CLASSIC VINTAGE BLACKWOOD U.S.A. PLASTIC FRAMES

 SOLD

 Measurements

These classic men's blackwood plastic vintage eyeglasses are in really excellent condition and ready for prescription lenses or sunglasses. The frame is marked ''23'' and the arms read ''5 3/4 U.S.A.''. The plastic has a nice sheen with no cracks, crazing or discoloration and the rivets shine bright.

Very cool blackwood US-made frames, dating from around the middle 1960s and never worn, never had lenses. They're unused frames and will come with their original paper frame envelope, too. They're not marked for a maker, so I can't tell you about that, but they're nice frames, especially for their deep, iridescent blackwood zyl. Nice thick rims and paddle-style temples, strong seven barrel temples, tight, no wobble, and bright oval rivets.

Temples are measured their full length, hinge to tip, as though they were straightened out. Why? Because they're adjustable, so measurements to the bend will vary based on maker and adjustment. Lens and bridge measurements are from lens edge to lens edge. Hinge to hinge is measured from screw to screw.

I have multiples of these and each pair has the same, seemingly random, small scratches on the back near the hinges. The frames are unused, never worn, the hinges don't look like they needed cleaning and the scratches don't really look like the result of cleaning anyway, so I am puzzled. They're not visible when worn and not really something one would notice without looking for it, but I give the full report, puzzled or otherwise! I'm thorough about condition so there are no surprises and these glasses are in really excellent condition. They'll make great everyday glasses or some very cool sunglasses.
