These classic men's Tart Arnel vintage eyeglasses are in mint condition and ready for prescription lenses or sunglasses. The frame shown is marked ''48 24'' and the arms read ''oTe 6 1/4''. Other sizes are marked the same way, according to size. The plastic has a nice sheen with no cracks, crazing or discoloration and those dart rivets shine bright.
This is a famous frame from Tart Optical out of New York, likely made in the middle to late 1950s or early 1960s. The model is the Tart Arnel and the color is Blackwood CB. The material is a black-grained zyl on the brows and temples and the bridge and rims are CB for ''clear bridge'', also called a two-tone frame. The clear zyl is nice and clear, which means they were well-stored and as a bonus, they'll come complete with their paper frame envelope. Great keyhole bridge, strong, smooth seven barrel hinges, bright rivets in the famous ''dart'' shape and taper temples, nice and thick. These really are great frames, ready to go!
Temples are measured their full length, hinge to tip, as though they were straightened out. Why? Because they're adjustable, so measurements to the bend vary by maker and adjustment. Lens and bridge measurements are from lens edge to lens edge. Hinge to hinge is measured from screw to screw. All frames are thoroughly inspected before leaving the Attic. I'm thorough about condition so there are no surprises and these glasses are in mint condition. They'll make great everyday glasses or some very cool sunglasses.
