These are the American Optical ''Original Pilot'' glasses. This model is a U.S. military staple, issued to millions of U.S. servicemen since the model's introduction in 1958. They're shown here in their most popular configuration: silver finish, bayonet temples and real glass lenses in grey, or what AO calls their ''True Color'' lens, a favorite of pilots. They're a strong design, with very solid joints on the bridge, a traditional AO hinge design that's very reliable and notice the ''AO'' logo on the nose pads, a nice touch. They come boxed and complete with a nice AO case. Great sunglasses, ready for immediate use or add your own prescription lenses!

Temples are measured their full length, hinge to tip, as though they were straightened out. Why? Because they're adjustable, so measurements to the bend vary. Lens and bridge measurements are from lens edge to lens edge. Hinge to hinge is measured from screw to screw.

These frames are also available in gold and with other styles of temples (cable - shown above and a regular, skull style of temple they call ''spatula''). The cable temples are very well-made and come with clear temple covers. There are other lens choices, too, including green and brown. Please email to make arrangements for green or brown lenses.

I'm careful about condition so there are no surprises and your glasses will be inspected thoroughly prior to shipment to assure they're in mint condition. They're great sunglasses or, fitted with your prescription lenses they make nice daily-wear frames.
