These classic black and silver combinations are brand new, mint condition and ready for prescription lenses or sunglasses. The bridge is marked ''50'' and the arms read ''SHURON USA RONSIR 5 3/4''.
This frame is the Shuron Nusir with the traditional ''taper'' style of temple. Like all Shuron combination frames, the brows and temples are Zyl, the customary optical plastic material, and the bridge and rims are a silver finish. The nose pads are a comfortable medium-firm silicone and the hinges are strong 5 barrels, always nice and snug. They're quality frames, well-made and good-looking. The Nusir uses the same brows and temples as Shuron's Ronsir (the parts are actually interchangeable...), but the lens height is a little lower than the legendary, traditional Ronsir and a little taller than the low-profile Ronsir Revelation. The pair shown here is a 50-22 Nusir and it has a 40 mm (1 9/16 inches) lens height. Compare that to the traditional Ronsir 50-22 lens height of 44 mm (1 3/4 inches) and the Ronsir Revelation 50-22 lens height of 35 mm (1 3/8 inches). As you can see, it falls neatly in the middle, a good compromise if one is concerned about lens height, but would like to maintain a broad frame width.
Temples are always measured their full length, hinge to tip, as though they were straightened out. Why? Because they're adjustable, so measurements to the bend vary. Lens and bridge measurements are from lens edge to lens edge. Note that Nusir bridge widths are not exactly 20 and 22. The bridge on these frames is made proportional to the lens size and is basically made in one size for each lens width, then either reduced or enlarged to provide a second bridge option. So, larger frames have a slightly wider bridge size than 20, closer to 21 and smaller lens width frames have a slightly narrower bridge than 22, closer to 21. Hinge to hinge is measured from screw to screw.
TEMPLE OPTIONS: I stock the standard adult men's temple length of 5 3/4 inches (145 mm) and the slightly longer 6 inch (150 mm), as well as a 5 1/2 inch (140 mm) and a very long 6 1/4 inch (158 mm), all in both the ''Taper'' and the ''Straight'' styles shown below. The Straight style is associated with earlier models of the Ronsir and other makers also used the same style early on in the history of combination frames. The Taper style is more of a 1950s development. There's also a cable temple, called the ''Relaxo'' and similar in shape to the ''Taper'' - inquire for details on that style.
COLORS: The Nusir comes in other colors, too, which I'm happy to obtain for you: tortoise, red, mocha (a medium brown) and several woodgrain patterns so popular during the 1950s: black briar, gray briar and golden briar. I'm
thorough about condition on all the frames I offer and these are no exception,
with every pair inspected in detail before careful packing and quick shipping. These
are true classics, brand new, mint condition. They make great everyday glasses or
very cool sunglasses.
If you have any questions about the Nusir, Ronsir or anything else, please don't hesitate to contact me. I try to answer all questions promptly.
