These classic G-man Malcolm X vintage black silver eyeglasses are in mint condition and ready for prescription lenses or sunglasses. The bridge is marked ''20 AO 1/10 12K GF'', the frame is stamped ''46'' and the arms read ''AMERICAN OPTICAL 5 3/4''. The markings mean the lower half of the frame is 12 karat gold-filled. The arms and brows have a nice sheen with no cracks, crazing or discoloration.

They're by American Optical, probably dating form the late 1950s or early 1960s and appear to be unused frames, though they were found without a frame envelope, so perhaps they were a demo frame. Wonderful finish, untouched AO Red-Dot screws in nice, snug seven-barrel hinges, original AO nose pads, too. Great frames, tested and ready to wear. These frames are in mint condition.

How to measure for vintage frames.

Remember that temples are always measured their full length, hinge to tip, as though they were straightened out. Why? Because they're adjustable, so measurements to the bend will vary based on who wore the frame. Lens and bridge measurements are from lens edge to lens edge. Hinge to hinge is measured from screw to screw.

I describe any flaws found while cleaning, but there are no problems to report with this pair. (If you disagree with my assessment, send them back for a full refund including the shipping paid, too!) I'm thorough about condition so there are no surprises and these glasses are in mint condition. They'll make great everyday glasses or some very cool sunglasses.
