Here's a cool pair of aviator sunglasses from the 1940s in great shape and ready for service. They're notable for their matching tortoise temples, brow bar and nose pads, all clean and smooth. The lenses are non-Rx, grey with a some blue-tone in there, too, also unusual and a nice feature. Because the hinges are riveted closed, these are not made for Rx lenses, not what is called an ''optical quality'' frame, but on the upside, there aren't and screws to come loose, sometimes a real plus. The repeating arrow design on the temples and the triple lines on the bridge are other notable details, very cool. Great pair of 1940s sunglasses, ready to go!

Temples are measured their full length, hinge to tip, as though they were straightened out. Why? Because they're adjustable, so measurements to the bend will vary based on maker and adjustment. Lens and bridge measurements are from lens edge to lens edge. Hinge to hinge is measured from screw to screw.

As the photos show, the metal sections of the frames show some tarnish on the nooks and crannies and the rims have a couple of spots, but nothing big or structural at all. The lenses have cleaning indications and spots where they touched the case, an occlussion in the left lens and a 3 mm scratch in the right, all small notes and not interefering with vision. These are small items, but I give the full report. Great pair of very cool and unusual vintage sunglasses, ready for service! I'm thorough about condition so there are no surprises and these glasses are in excellent condition. They'll make great everyday glasses or some very cool sunglasses.
