These classic Shuron Ronsir black silver combination frames are brand new, mint condition and ready for prescription or sunglass lenses. The frames shown in the photos are a 50-22 frame, marked ''50 - 22'' on the bridge, ''50'' on the frame and ''SHURON USA RONSIR 5 3/4'' on the temples. Other size frames are marked the same way, each according to their sizes. The temples shown are the Shuron ''Taper'' style, but please note that there are several other styles of temples available, too!
These are brand new, though made pretty much just like they've made them back since the 1950s and I have to tell you, they really are well-made glasses. (This is from someone who handles mostly vintage frames from the golden age of American craftsmanship, so I really have seen some of the best frames ever made, or at least I like to think so!) The finish on the new Ronsir frames is always well-done, the screws are cooperative and the plastic is tough stuff. They do a good job on the little details, too, no dangling plastic machine fragments or big solder blobs I sometimes see on contemporary frames. So, since these are brand new, what's different from Shuron Ronsir frames of yesteryear? The nose pads changed from bakelite / mother of pearl back in the late Forties, so they've been using clear ones for a long time. The nose pad fittings were recently changed, making it much simpler to find replacement pads. Besides that, they really are pretty much the same as they've always been! Great glasses, brand new, mint condition!
Ronsir sunglass clip-ons are now available, newly introduced by Shuron. They come in all Ronsir sizes, complete with very nice grey or brown polarized lenses and a black clamshell case, too. The price shown is for clip-ons purchased with frames. Please don't hesitate to contact me to make arrangements for purchasing clip-ons without a frame.
Temples are measured to their full length, hinge to tip, as though they were straightened out. Why? Because they're adjustable, so measurements to the bend vary. Lens and bridge measurements are from lens edge to lens edge. Hinge to hinge is measured from screw to screw.
TEMPLES: I stock the standard adult men's temple length of 5 3/4 inches (145 mm) and the slightly longer 6 inch (150 mm), as well as a 5 1/2 inch (140 mm) and a very long 6 1/4 inch (158 mm), all in both the ''Taper'' and the ''Straight'' styles shown below. The Straight style is associated with earlier models of the Ronsir and other makers also used the same style early on in the history of combination frames. The Taper style is more of a 1950s development. There are also cable temples, one called the ''Relaxo'' and similar in shape to the ''Straight'' and an all-metal cable temple Shuron calls the ''Aztec''.
COLORS: They come in other colors, too, which I'm happy to obtain for you: tortoise, mocha, Cordova and several faux woodgrain patterns so popular during the Fifties: black briar, gray briar and golden briar. These are true classics in brand new, mint condition. They make great everyday glasses or some very cool sunglasses.
